What a ride

It was such a beautiful day today. I had to be outside. In the dirt no less. And I had help. Thus this picture of the guilty party. But he's so sweet, who could stay mad? Cody is my four-legged companion in all my gardening activities. If he's not there sniffing all the dirt I've moved around then he's sunning in the warm grass. There are also a couple of cats that are a little too involved at times, but they found a warm spot in front of the house and were napping after lunch.
It was so gorgeous today I had to try my new bike. So with some soap and water and a little elbow grease it looked like new. My dear hubby had a little more work to do on his that involved power tools...what man doesn't look for an excuse to use power tools? So off we went to town...7 miles away. Got there a little winded and had a nice talk with hubbies cousin, Tammy and gulped down some water. Ahhhhh! Then it was back on the road. A little bit of a headwind made for some slower travel home, but all the gears are in working order and it wasn't too bad. I'm lovin' the new wheels. Wonder what my legs will feel like tomorrow? All in all we did about 15 miles today. Not too shabby since we haven't been outsince...oh who knows when. It was wonderful. Hope we can go again tomorrow. I'll know better to take the camera.
The title of this blog seems so unfitting since there really hasnt' been any inspiration going on. No crafting whatsoever. So sad. But things will start moving now that there is really some green grass and sunshine out there. It's not all about sitting behind a sewing machine and canvas all day...do you ahve any idea how much fun it is to play in the dirt? Honestly this is something that no one should out grow. I loved playing in the sandbox as a kid and was forever finding the first mud puddles? And I can't count the number of soakers I had or the bumps and bruises from sliding down the side of the hill to get to the creek. There's some inspiration for you. Have a go at a second childhood and find a mud puddle or a pile of dirt. Have fun!!!

Busy busy busy

The last week has flown by. On Monday I left for an overnight visit with my brother and his sweetheart and there household of three four legged furry companions. They treated me to dinner out and breakfast in the morning. I got to watch HGTV which led me to believe I could never return home without getting cable installed first. We had a great time visiting. On Tuesday we went and picked up my new/used Rans recumbent. I am so excited to get out and ride it. I'm sure they think I'm out of my mind for wanting a bike like this. But when I sat on one for the first time it was true love. You can see them here at www.Ransbikes.com. Mine is a Tailwind. Will post more about that later. On Wednesday I left for a meeting. Those people that commute, in the dark, on the expressways must be insane. I hate that much traffic. But thanks to www.Mapquest.com I made it safe and sound. Even managed to get home from the meeting in one piece. Now I've gotta start sewing. Am making a custom bike seat...should be interesting. Thanks again to Den and Val and their companions for treating me like a queen. Your all so sweet and I'm so lucky to have you in my life.

Post card heaven

Found this little gem in the mail today. The manitees came from Ellen H and are so sweet. They even have pink cheeks. I just love cards with some character and these little guys have all of that and then some.
This is from a post card group I joined last fall. It is the second swap I've done in the past 6 months. I did a total of 46 cards. A lot of fun and a lot of frustration. The first group (http://www.art2mail.com/) easy since there was no theme and I could just have at it, but the second group,http://www.postmarkdart.com/ was alot more challenging. A theme. Try coming up with 20 plus cards that have a theme. It was awful. Just could not get it. But then something clicked. Actually a friend gave me some inspiring words when she told me about a quilt challenge she was doing. And these are some of the cards that came out of that bit of inspiration. Just needed a creative boost. Thanks Mary. Those are 4 of the styles of cards that I sent out. Wish the picture was better, but that's what you get when your still learning how to use your camera. If you ever want to do something fun with your art, I highly reccomend this. But here is some disappointment as some people receive cards and don't participate by sending their cards in return. But all in all it was alot of fun.

Happy Easter

It's a beautiful day today. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and it's Easter. To top things off I found these little Snow Drops peeking thru the cold ground to get theirfaces warmed in the sun. They're such a sweet little flower.
The last couple of days have been busy with the holiday and my visiting brother. Yesterday we piled into the car and started the day with the first garage sale of the season. What does moi need to go to a garage sale for? Don't I already have enough stuff? But off we went anyway and I was able to control myself with only a couple of small purchases. My favorite being a book by Tom Brokaw, The Greatest Generation.
It was a very sunny day and very deceiving. You look out the window and think "It's gotta be 50 or better out there." Well you'd be wrong. It's cold. Not just cold...face freezing, finger numbing cold. You go out and that north wind comes at you across the flat frozen field and you instantly need to pee . :) It's March. Where is Spring??? Cmon show your face. I miss you.
Dad showed up about noon and we had our brunch. Waffles with homemade stewed blueberries, bacon, fresh fuit, and more. MMM! The only thing that made it better was having all my boys there. Dear hubby, brother and dad. Am I so lucky? The only thing missing was those that have passed on and are away from us right now. Mom, Gramma and Grampa and Gramma Bertha and Grampa. But they aren't forgotten and the holiday is even more blessed with the special memories that we have of them.
Today is Easter, a day of celebration, new hope and new beginnings. We will be off this evening to spend the rest of the holiday with my hubbies family and tomorrow it's back to work. I've really enjoyed the last week off, but it'll be nice to get back into the routine of things at work. But to be honest, I'll miss being home with Fred and sleeping in in the morning.
